Camera

Found under GUI on the device's panel list.

Camera​

Drives the WIL-EYE Orca camera module: takes pictures and video, and adjusts its image settings. FreeWili 2 has no camera of its own - this screen exists to talk to a WIL-EYE plugged into the Orca connector, and says so plainly when there isn't one to talk to.

The screen​

The screen shows one of three states, and switches between them on its own as the module is plugged in, unplugged, or starts or stops answering - you never need to leave and re-enter for it to notice.

  • Not selected - WIL-EYE is not the device chosen on the Orca UART. The screen reads "No camera on this device" and explains: FreeWili 2 has no camera of its own, this screen drives the WIL-EYE Orca module, and to select it go to Settings > Orca Setup > WILEye (today that choice is reached through Setup & Actions / Menu Xplorer - see the Orca Setup help page).
  • Not responding - WIL-EYE is selected but has sent nothing back yet. The screen reads "WIL-EYE not responding" and suggests checking that the module is seated and powered; it also says the page will pick the module up on its own once it answers.
  • Connected - a list fills the screen, captioned "Eye See You": Take Picture SD, Take Picture FW, Start Video (or Stop Video while recording), Set Zoom, Set Contrast, Set Brightness, Set Saturation, Set Hue, a Flash entry, and Set Resolution.

Earlier versions of this screen could go black instead of showing either of the first two messages, with nothing on screen to explain why. That's fixed now - a missing or silent module always draws a worded screen rather than an empty one.

Gray, Yellow, Green, Blue and Red carry no label here and do nothing. HOME leaves the screen from here, as it does everywhere else in the menu.

Still needs Orca mode​

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth talk to a co-processor soldered to the board, so their screens are always live with no setup step first. The camera is different: WIL-EYE genuinely is a separate module that plugs into the Orca connector rather than something built into FreeWili 2, so it still has to be chosen as the Orca device before this screen does anything beyond telling you that it isn't.

Taking pictures and video​

Take Picture SD and Take Picture FW save a photo to the SD card or the device's own flash; both always save it under the same file name, so a new picture replaces whichever one was saved there before. Take Picture FW's label changes while the image is being transferred back from the camera. Start Video begins recording to the SD card, also always under the same file name; the entry becomes Stop Video while recording, and selecting it again ends the recording.

Image settings​

Zoom, Contrast, Brightness, Saturation, Hue and Resolution each open a number entry: Zoom from 1 to 4, Contrast, Brightness, Saturation and Hue from 0 to 100, and Resolution from 0 to 2 (640x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080). Each of these dialogs always opens showing the same starting number, not whatever you last set - so pressing OK without changing it resets that setting back to its starting value: Zoom 1; Contrast, Brightness or Saturation 50; Hue 2; or Resolution 640x480.

Flash​

The Flash entry's label follows the camera's state, but selecting it always turns the flash off, regardless of what the label says at the time.

Power​

This screen does not switch a power zone on for you. The WIL-EYE module's own rail on the Orca connector is not part of the documented zone map - if it has no power, expect the "not responding" screen above rather than any warning here.
