SubGHz Radio

Note: This panel only appears on Free Wili boards built with the CC1101 sub-GHz radio installed; it won't show up on boards without that hardware option.

Found under Wireless on the device's panel list.

Sub-GHz Radios

The Sub-GHz application is intended for receiving, recording, analyzing, and transmitting signals with the onboard CC1101 radios.

Availability

CC1101 panels are not included in the current FreeWili 2 firmware release. Selecting Wireless > SubGHz may therefore open an empty screen. Use Home to return to the launcher.

The separate LoRa application is available and uses the WIO-E5 radio. See its help page for receiving and sending LoRa data.

When CC1101 support is enabled in a future release, this application will provide these tools:

  • Read received packets
  • Capture raw signals
  • Transmit saved .sub files
  • Scan signal strength by frequency

Radio transmission is regulated. Only transmit on frequencies and at power levels permitted in your location.

Sub-GHz Receive Log

This panel is designed to show packets received by either onboard CC1101 radio. A received packet includes its data, signal strength, link quality, and CRC result.

Sub-GHz Raw Capture

Raw Capture records Sub-GHz pulse timing and saves it as a .sub file on the SD card. Use the configuration view to choose the frequency, radio preset, capture duration, and output name before recording.

Keep the device close to the transmitter during capture. A clean recording usually contains one or more complete button presses with a short quiet period before and after them.

Sub-GHz Signal Files

This panel lists saved Sub-GHz signal files from the /radio/ folder on the SD card. Selecting a file opens it in the transmit panel; it does not transmit immediately.

Files must use the .sub format. If the list is empty, confirm that the SD card is mounted and that the files are stored in /radio/.

Sub-GHz Transmit

This panel transmits the signal stored in the selected .sub file. The screen shows the file name, radio settings, and transmit status.

The frequency, modulation preset, protocol, and signal data come from the selected file. A malformed or unsupported file is rejected without sending.

Sub-GHz Frequency Analyzer

The Frequency Analyzer scans supported Sub-GHz frequencies and plots received signal strength. Use it to find active channels before opening a receive or raw-capture panel.

HomeReturn to the launcher

A taller or brighter peak indicates a stronger signal at that frequency. RF noise can also produce peaks, so repeat the scan while operating the transmitter you want to identify.
