Orca Setup

Note: This panel currently can't be opened from the on-screen panel list - its menu entry is commented out in firmware. It's a guided setup wizard for pairing with an Orca accessory over UART. It configures the same underlying setting as Orca Settings in the console Settings menu, with presets for known Orca variants (including flashing companion firmware for the Bottlenose variant).

Choose your ORCA!

Chooses which external module is wired to the Orca UART connector: which device MAIN expects to be talking to, and the baud rate, data bits and flow control it uses to talk to it.

Gray, Yellow and Green carry no label here and do nothing. HOME leaves the screen from here, as it does everywhere else in the menu.

Wi-Fi/Bluetooth vs. the camera

This list matters for the camera and does not matter for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on FreeWili 2. The wireless co-processor there is the ESP32-C5 soldered to the board, on its own dedicated UART - it is always present, so nothing needs to be selected here for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to work. WIL-EYE, by contrast, is a genuine plug-in module on the external Orca connector; the Camera screen can't reach it unless "WILEye" is selected here.

The Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Camera screens all link back to this screen when they can't reach their device. That's the right move for the camera. It isn't for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth on FreeWili 2 - this screen has no bearing on that connection there, so coming here to fix it is a dead end.

Choosing a device

Selecting an entry applies it right away - the yellow marker moves - and marks the screen as having unsaved changes until you press Blue. Choosing BottleNose or WILEye also sets the UART's baud rate, data bits and flow control to match what that device expects; the other entries just record the choice without touching the UART settings. Choosing BottleNose specifically also asks whether to flash it; answering yes opens the Bottlenose flasher screen (see its own help page), answering no leaves BottleNose selected without flashing anything.

Nothing here checks whether the module you picked is actually plugged in. Select one that isn't there and the choice still saves normally; the only sign of trouble shows up later, on whichever screen actually talks to that device (the Camera screen, for WIL-EYE), which will simply report no connection.

Flashing

The Bottlenose flasher reached from here talks to a plug-in Bottlenose module over this same Orca UART connector, using its BOOT/RESET button handshake. It does not touch the board's own soldered wireless chip. Flashing that chip is a separate action from the Files screen: browse to a folder holding a flashable ESP32 image and a "Flash ESP32" choice appears there.
